Red soils, a dusty landscape, and a noticeable decline in bees—this is the harsh reality in many parts of Kitui South. To combat this, MRDP’s “A Child a Tree” initiative has pioneered an inspiring approach to engage young learners in environmental conservation. Today, over 150 schools across the region are turning green, boasting an impressive 65% survival rate for the 45,000 trees planted through the BeeFIT program.
But how do we transform the arid lands outside of the school compounds?
Last week, Dorcas Kenya took a major step toward a sustainable solution. Joining hands with Lukenya University in Mtito Andei, we are hosting a 3-day workshop on the university grounds. Our focus? To train communities on the best practices for using the Groasis Ecological Water Saving Technology, which has been proven to be up to 90% effective in water utilization and tree survival.
